Trident Trident 660: Buying and owning experience | BHP Billiton Team

BHPian Jhinchak recently shared this with other fans.

Every boy dreams of their first bicycle, their first bicycle and their first car. This is the story of my first superbike.

Like everyone else on the forum, I have been fascinated by cars since I was a child. Maybe it runs in the family (my father owns a Yezdi Roadking, Kawasaki KB100). No, I don’t have pictures of those bikes where we don’t have a camera.

Speaking of my bike, my first bike is TVS apache RTR 180. At that time, some people would say that this is a powerful bicycle. Yes, everyone has to step by step from 100cc to 150cc and so on, but I leap directly to 180cc. Today, it seems that everyone starts with a more powerful bicycle.

More than half of the value of the new bicycle was spent on modification. First, the headlights were changed to powerful halogen lamps, and then something called an angel lamp, which has now become a demon lamp. In addition, believe it or not, I also installed a music system.

Later, when everyone else turned to bigger cyclists, the need for power began to appear in my mind. So I got the Apache Big Bore kit from NMW Bangalore. Although the power has increased significantly, the increase is not large.

Benelli was launched in India a few years later, so I went to check it out. Fall in love with TNT 300. Decided to buy it because I am not looking for a large weekend bike, but more a daily powerful city bike. (Not interested in KTM, because I want a more refined and unique bike)

Just as I wanted to make it more unique, I made a customized packaging for it.

Coming now I decided to take the next leap and sold Benelli because I just got tired of this bike and started looking for my next car.

I'm not looking for a completely fair superbike, just naked, so I have the above options.

Kawasaki was removed from the list because I didn't like its appearance at all.

Ducati is an exotic Italian brand, the maintenance cost is too high, I don't like it.

Suzuki GSX is discontinued because it does not have a BS6 motor.

So all my eyes are on the triple R on the street.

Around the same time, the Triumph Trident made its debut and decided to wait for it because it was a more retro modern design with an old detuned Street Triple engine.

November 2020: Reservations are opened for the Trident, so even if I don’t see its meat, I don’t know the price, because it has not been announced, so I continued to book the bike, just because they promised that if I change it, I will refund the amount of the reservation. Mind.

December 2020: The first international cycling media event is organized by Triumph UK. After reading every comment on YouTube, I decided to do it.

April 2021: The bicycle is officially launched in India and the price is announced. 695,000 rupees (exhibition hall). I was promised to deliver my bike in a few weeks because I was the first person to book a bike.

At about the same time, India entered the second lockdown and all non-essential stores were closed.

As logistics services are still open, it will be until the end of April. The representative of the showroom called me and told me that my bike had arrived, and I asked to be there when it was unpacked.

June 2021: Partial lifting of the blockade. As a result, the financial paperwork started and is still being processed slowly because of partial lock-in. At the same time, if I want any accessories, I am asked to complete the accessories.

Decided to go to the yard spool and belly plate. Triumph accessories are expensive.

After completing the financial paperwork and paying the balance. The bicycle is ready to go through RTO procedures. I pushed for delivery on July 1st because it was my daughter's birthday.

July 2021: I was told that the bike would be ready for delivery by 4pm, and I got there on time at 4pm. A bicycle was found to be covered and ready for delivery. But this is not my trident, but the new 2021 Speed Triple 1200. Waiting for delivery, but the customer is late.

They asked me to complete the delivery documents, and at the same time they took out my bike and prepared it for delivery. They also gave a mandatory explanation of the function of their trial bike instead of my bike.

In the end, I received the bike and was very disappointed with Keerthi Triumph because they didn't even provide a free keychain and forgot the cake. Spending $400,000 on Maruti, I will get a list of gifts, from chocolates to idols to pillows. In addition, despite paying for the belly plate in advance, they told me that they had no belly plate in stock during the delivery period. I don't know why they want me to pay, if they have stock, or at least they can notify in advance instead of at the last minute.

Decided not to spoil my mood and move on, because I just bought myself a superbike.

As long as you don't ride other large bikes, this bike is definitely worth riding. Its handling is very good, and the grip of Michelin tires is very good. There are significant differences between the two riding modes (rain, road). The wet weight of the bicycle is 189 kg, so it doesn't feel too heavy. The suspension is very firm and there is no problem in absorbing slight bumps. Only on very bad roads will you find that you need a softer tune. Even at higher speeds, the engine is smooth and feels very refined.

The bike was indeed a bit hot, and the hot air hit the left shin, but it was not unbearable. There is a slight vibration at the handlebar.

Trident has enough torque to become a happy city bike, no need to change gears frequently, 4 gears / 5 gears 50 km/h comfortable. The gear change is a bit clumsy, hope it will improve over time. The transmission ratio is very short, many people may not like it because it is a 600 cc bike, people would expect more

The factory-set LED headlights are set a bit too high. It blinds oncoming vehicles and must be lowered. Once the headlights are lowered, it is enough to drive in cities and highways. Although I would still recommend additional lights for touring performances.

The turning radius is not the best, a larger radius is needed to turn around. The ergonomic design of the seat is not too far forward, which can be said to be the perfect balance between sport and comfort. The seat height is not too high for an exercise bike, and it is very comfortable for people with short stature to ride this bike. But as a compact bike, anyone over 6 feet 2 inches will look embarrassed on this bike.

The ground clearance is not the best, but even in the highest turbulence I have never ridden it alone, but even in the smaller turbulence, the bike will scratch every time. The back seat is also very small and not very comfortable

The 14-liter fuel tank is not the largest, but it should be sufficient. This bike has a mileage of 22-24 km/l in a casual road riding style, but it drops under intense riding. This bike can easily travel 300 kilometers in a full tank. Exhaust sound is music to the ears, it is loud enough in cities, but on open highways, people want after-sales exhaust.

The bicycle has a built-in run-in program, so the speed limiter flashes at 4000 rpm for the first 500 kilometers and then at 5000 rpm for 800 kilometers. The program is completed at 1600 kilometers or 1000 miles. Once each milestone is completed, the bike will definitely open.

The first service feels always the longest because we are eager to complete it so that we can open the throttle more. Unfortunately, the weather in Bangalore is chaotic and unpredictable, forcing me to choose more cars than bicycles. But once the bike has completed 1,000 kilometers and completed the first repair, the bike will feel much better. It is smoother and runs cooler. (The radiator will start early after the software is updated). They kept the bicycles for two full days during the first repair, which is surprising because they only repair 5-6 bicycles a day.

The first service cost me about 7.5-8000 rupees.

After the first maintenance, the bicycle cruised comfortably at 140 degrees without any pressure on the engine. Due to the high wind speed, higher speeds require aftermarket screens. The thermometer did not exceed 4 bars after repair, even in traffic.

I still don't have many accessories, only the paddock spools and custom radiator grilles.

I recently completed a ppf on my bike, and because a close friend of mine runs a detail studio, I got a good deal.

So far, I am very satisfied with this bike. For people like me, it seems perfect, they mainly use it in the city and on occasional weekend vacations. Many people advise you not to take this bike tour, but many people take a Honda Activa tour. Therefore, the bicycle cannot end your travel diary, but it should be the next chapter.
